INTERVIEW TO A NEW YORKER!!

FINALLY LUOSI
MAGAZINE

INTEVIEWED A NEW
YORKER TO FIND
OUT HOW LIFE IS
IN THE BIG APPLE!!
CHECK IT OUT!!

We
interviewed Joe
Sorbera, an American
guy who lives in Staten Island (NYC)

WILLIAM: Were you born in the USA?

JOE: I was indeed!! Born in Manhattan

WILLIAM: Do you like the life there in general?

JOE: I absolutely do. It can be a pain sometimes, but overall I wouldn't want to
live anywhere else.

WILLIAM: What do you like there that is different from here?

JOE: I like the availability of things here. For example, I know that at 1 AM I can
go to a pharmacy and pick up some orange juice. In a lot of
places in Europe, a pharmacy is only for medicine and they
close early.

WILLIAM: Very good!! That’s awesome!! What would you
advice us to try if we came there?
JOE: haha, wow, where to start! For any Italian coming to
New York, I'd suggest going to Little Italy and seeing where
the people who made the journey all those years ago ended
up. Ellis Island is really great in that respect too. You can
almost feel what it was like to go through the
process. And I think the other thing would be,
yes, definitely go see the big tourist sites, but
take some time to go to a museum, see a
Broadway show, or just walk around and experience
life in the city.

WILLIAM: Ok good… Why you americans are so proud to be american? Why is
there this patriotism?

JOE: that's a GREAT question . I think it comes down to this…from the earliest
settlers to people who are even now just coming here, America is a place where
people who work hard and take a risk can make it. That spirit won us the
Revolution, it charted our course West, it built some of the great buildings, and
has helped us through some really difficult times.
Even if you've been here for generations, you can recognize the sacrifice made by so
many people to make this country as great as it is, and you just can't help but
feel proud. And sure we have our problems, made mistakes, whatever. But at it's
core the principles on which we were founded are still relevant and people really
try to live up to those ideals.

WILLIAM: Yeah… For example here in italy i’ve never seen someone singing the
national anthem with such proudness… its something awesome…

JOE: Especially here in New York, people are VERY proud of their Heritage
(Italian, Irish, Polish, etc) but we're all still Americans. And I think it's important
to remember that we all came from somewhere else, but we CHOSE to come here.

WILLIAM: Wow that’s a great thing! However thanks for giving us your time!

JOE: It’s a pleasure!!
